William Harris was named a trustee in 12 March 1860 but his occupation was not stated. In the 1861 census William Wellington Harris was farming on 200 acres in lot 11 concession 3 Nelson Township and was described as a Wesleyan Methodist. He had been born on 7 Feb 1815 in New York State, a son of Joseph and Christina Harris. About 1840 he married Irish-born Hannah Eakins (6 May 1819-29 Apr 1869) and they had at least 10 children. After Hannah died in 1869 William married the Irish-born widow Mary Ann Shouldice nee Smiley (1825-1897) in Milton on 6 Apr 1870. William Harris died 14 Mar 1875 and was buried in Lowville Methodist (now United Church) Cemetery beside his first wife. His second wife Mary Ann Smiley died 18 Apr 1897 was buried in the Bronte Pioneer Cemetery in Milton.
